Youth political spaces

Story Za Ground

Youth political spaces

Kenya’s political spaces for youth continues to be severely constrained. Young people’s participation in policymaking is still limited. Young people must claim their rightful spaces and be allowed to participate in policy processes in a free and meaningful manner, as participation of citizens in policymaking is the hallmark of democracy, and is identified as the essential tool of instilling national values and principles of governance.

Claiming Spaces for Youth Political Participation is also geared towards bridging the generational gap between veteran and current crop of activists and emerging activists through information sharing, storytelling, mentorships and movement building.

It is intended to equip the current generation of activists with vital information on past struggles and their relationship with current state of affairs. The intention is to build a critical mass of current day activists who are able to analyse current socio-political contexts with past endeavors towards a fully democratic country where freedom of speech, expression and association are safeguarded.
